Roberts, and Francis Joseph Sherman. All three of these poets are buried in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
There also lie other members of the Roberts clan and some other well known Canadian poets, writers and artists, including Alden Nowlan, Desmond Pacey and Pegi Nicol Mcleod. Kids Fun: Science... and a 154 year old jail? Saturday, May 5, 2012 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM Saturday afternoons stir the imagination through a family-oriented exploration of science. A tour of the many hands-on exhibits (over 150) at Science East, New Brunswick’s only Science Centre, is followed by a focused fun-filled workshop with a science theme. Although now a fun centre for children, the building has a storied past. Built in 1842, the building was originally the former York County Jail. With metre-thick walls, it was the site of New Brunswick's last public execution (1949) and also housed the province's most notorious serial killer Allan Legere (the Monster of the Miramichi). Check out the dungeon downstairs, which was largely untouched in the transformation. The tin ceilings and octagonal stone bay that once housed the privies were left intact. A jail for 154 years, its history is recounted through artifacts, pictures and newspaper accounts.

Kings Landing: Saving Great Canadian Apples Saturday, May 5, 2012 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM It may come as a surprise to learn that 150 years ago, conventional knowledge held that apples were not a viable commercial crop in our climate! They were not native to our country and imported varieties either succumbed to our cold winters or would not ripen in our short season. It took one brave and determined man to prove that wisdom is greater than convention. At a time when the process of controlled cross-pollination of plants was an emerging new science, Francis Peabody Sharp began, on his own initiative, Canada’s first truly scientific apple crossbreeding experimental program. At Kings Landing Historical Settlement Sharp’s experiments are being replicated at a commemorative nursery located near the Agricultural Hall and throughout the orchards on site. Join in this local tour and meet with Francis Sharp and discover the history of apples in New Brunswick. See our commemorative nursery and orchards as you visit the 1800s village. Try your hand at the fine work of grafting with the guidance of a local expert.
TRANSPORTATION METHOD(S) Vehicle, carriage and on foot. FOOD / DRINK Enjoy a delicious meal at the historic King’s Head Inn (1855) including traditional apple dishes, such as our own F.P. Sharp salad and apple pie for dessert! As you prepare to depart, you may find some apple recipes to take with you. LENGTH OF TIME OUTSIDE (if any) Moderate, except for lunch.
